With its wheelbase bigger than both – Audi A8 or Mercedes S-Class, Citron is all set to unveil its big luxury sedan at the Shanghai Expo 2010. Dubbed 2010 Citroen Metropolis, the sedan is expected to open up an entirely new market for the French manufacturer.
From the first appearance, you can make it out easily that its design language is inspired from Hypnos concept and is completely developed by PSA Group’s Shanghai design studio.
Built on a modified version of PSA Group’s Platform 3 which is used in cars like Citroën C6 and Peugeot 407, Citroen Metropolis will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain combining a 2.0-litre V6 petrol engine capable to produce 272bhp and 277lb ft of torque and an electric motor.
The electric motor can enhance the power output from 55bhp to 95bhp when needed. However, the two engines are capable of putting the combined output to 460bhp and 317lb ft of torque. The car has its CO2 emission at just 70 g/km.
The four-wheel drive Metropolis also features a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The luxury sedan has its length at 17.4 feet in and its width 6.5 feet. Vehicle’s complex turbine-style wheels are 21-inchers, with 265/35 tyres.
